To all my mom readers out there, I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day this weekend. Mine was spent eating good food, cuddling and generally being entertained by these lovely little people:
I was so honoured to be included in the May Canadian Family – and did we ever have fun! The kids had the best time picking out my outfit and the Canadian Family team made us feel so comfortable. Here’s a fun little secret- there are actually 4 children in this picture…
That’s right, we’re expecting (again)! You can see the tiny beginning of my bump here in this photo taken by the lovely Katherine Holland. We are due in November and are very excited. For a few short months I will have 4 children, 4 and under (exhausted just writing that)! We are beyond thrilled and are so excited to bring another little Canning into the world. Also thrilled that Smythe blazers (like this lovely blue one above) are tailored perfectly for pregnant bellies. Room to grow!
With my exciting news out of the way, on to announcing the winner of my PileOfPillows.com giveaway. Thanks to everyone who entered. I wrote down all the entires and put them into a good old fashioned hat and the lucky winner drawn is… Jaimie of Redleafstyling! We’ll be in touch Jaimie to get your pillows shipped to you and thanks again to everyone for entering.
Hello my design loving blog readers! Forgive me for my absence, but I am making it up to you with a giveaway!
I have recently been introduced to PileOfPillows.com, a stylish Canadian e-boutique that features beautiful quality, and beautiful looking products for your home and bed. I love their carefully curated variety of designer and earth-friendly products. I am going to be ordering a set of sheets for a new King bed purchase I’d love to make (Mother’s Day gift to myself?).
I was very happy to see the Mazizmuse line as part of their product assortment. I blogged about them a while ago and have always been a fan of Laura’s use of pattern and colour.
PileOfPillows.com has graciously gifted a pair of outdoor Mazizmuse pillows for my blog readers- open to my readers all across Canada! Perfect timing as we dust off our patios and get ready for more outdoor living.
To enter, please leave a comment below telling me your favourite thing about Canadian summer. For an additional entry, tweet this contest including my twitter handle @lisa_canning and @PileOfPillows. For a final entry follow Lisa Canning Interiors on Facebook!
Contest closes Tuesday May 14 at 11pm and winner will be chosen at random.
As we continue to battle winter here in Toronto I am trying to think positively about progress (spring needs to progress faster!) Lots of progress made recently with our projects, with photoshoots, styling and a new project starting.
We finished and shot (with Larry Arnal) a fresh and clean bathroom in north Toronto.
And in the same house a completely different vibe but equally gorgeous bathroom. Love this space.
Some orchids get to find a home at The Kit magazine offices as we start to layer in the pretty.
And a new project in Toronto’s Greek town begins as we plan a main floor renovation. This is a prelim sketch for an office / breakfast area in the living room.
And to end our week I am going to be willing spring to come to Toronto at the National Home Show and Canada Blooms. You’ll find me (when not answering design dilemmas at the Reno and Decor booth on Saturday from 12-1:30) among the flowers pretending they are growing outside.
Speaking of the Home Show- happy to announce that the winners of this week’s ticket giveaway are (selected at random)… Rita, Stephanie and Gina! Thanks for all your entries and see you at the show!
I’m back! Forgive me for the short hiatus- it has been a bit of a whirlwind this past little while with some fun, busy projects- and the regular hilarity of three children under three- but to make up for it I come bearing gifts.
I have three pairs of tickets to give away to the National Home Show, currently open at Exhibition Place. I will again be at the Reno & Decor booth answering design questions on Saturday March 23 from 12-1:30pm so please stop by!
To enter, let me know who you would take to the show in the comments below. Winner will be randomly drawn. Contest closes Wednesday March 20 at 11pm and winners will be notified by email. Good luck!
Happy Monday everyone. If you are like me and live in Toronto (or likely the rest of Canada) you left for work in slush and ice and came home to a driveway full of more slush and ice. My boots (while pretty) didn’t exactly keep me warm or dry while I jetted across the city- so I was most excited to find in my mailbox the following:These lovely little love cards (perfect for Valentines Day that is fast approaching!) are created by the lovely Ashleigh Schouwerwou for Paper Society Co. How glam is she:
I’m a bit of a sucker for great typography, quality paper and the art of the greeting card in general- nothing replaces the handwritten note. Ashleigh agrees with me:
“There’s something romantic about old-school letter-writing, especially with all of the digital technology available to us now, so I wanted to create something that wasn’t your typical Hallmark greeting card; something less sugary, with a heavy dose of style and wit. Paper plays with our sense of touch, and while subtle, it’s as much a part of the design as the actual artwork is. I’m beyond grateful to have a career that I would consider a hobby, and yes, this line is an expression of my thoughts and aesthetic, but it’s not all about me. You’re on my mind, too.”
You’re so much on her mind she has so generously gifted a set of cards to one of my readers just in time for love day. To win a set of Paper Society Co.’s Limited Edition Valentine’s Day Collection simple leave me a comment below with who you’d give a card to and why. Contest is open to Canada & The US and recipient will be selected at random on Friday at 5pm.

Happy Friday! This Friday 5 is coming at the end of the day as I participated in back to back Interior Design Show festivities including the first #Instawalk for Masco Canada and Beige Is Dead. Check out the hash tags #ids13walk for all the images of the participants who walked the floor snapping their favourite pieces from the show.
Here are 5 things that inspired me today at the show:This is a beautiful custom carpet designed by Robyn Waffle for Modallion, yetanother amazing Ryerson Fashion grad.
Ceaserstone created this rock garden, a beautiful visual pause and clever use of this material.
These are my friend Nyla Free‘s shoes. Snapped this while she wasn’t looking!
A fun splash of colour at the Para Paint booth.
And lastly from Masco, I love the versatility in this sink design- many different configurations for a vessel.
The Interior Design Show is this weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Center and is full of I sliding treats. The Ikea booth is one not to miss, and I also loved what Oakville retailer Cocoon did with their booth.
And I’m excited to announce the winner of my IDS ticket giveaway! I drew the winner the old fashioned way by writing down all the entires and drawing from a hat- and the winner is…. Angie! Congrats to you and thanks to all who entered. Happy Toronto Design Week!
It’s that time of year again, when the design community gathers in Toronto for the inspiring cultural event that is the Interior Design Show.
Last year I was so excited to participate in the show formally with my design of National Bank’s hub at the How Do You Live? exhibit. This year I can’t wait to connect with old friends, sharpen the saw, and in general be surrounded by good design and smart people.
In honour of the festivities I’m giving away a pair of tickets to the show for this January 26-27 2013 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. To enter, like my Facebook page and tell me you did so in the comments below. Extra entries for following me on twitter and on Instagram @lisacanning. Contest closes Friday January 25 at 5pm and winner will be notified via email. Good luck and happy design week!
Is it just me or does warm weather increase your appetite for shopping? The sunshine makes me want to inject small pops of fun colour into my home.
Exciting news for fellow shopping lovers- I am hosting an art show on Friday June 8, 5-7pm at Cry If I Want To in Toronto’s east end. The show (read more about it here) features the very talented Matt LeBlanc, who you might recall we used his gorgeous abstract modern art on several episodes of For Rent on HGTV. It’s a lovely informal event, come for some treats and art and shop the wonderful decor products carries by the ladies at Cry If I Want To.
To everyone who entered my Jonathan Adler-Cottonelle contest last week, thank you so much! Everyone’s entries were entered into Random.org and mixed around and the winner is…
Cheryl!!!! Congratulations and I will be in touch shortly with how your prize will get to you! Thanks again everyone for your tweets, Facebook likes and comments.
It’s giveaway time- perhaps a post mother’s day treat, or a quick way to spruce up your own space.
I am a big fan of Jonathan Adler‘s designs, primarily for his no fear use of colour and pattern. While going bold may not be for everyone, small doses of colour and pattern certainly inject excitement and personality.
Jonathan Adler recently partnered with Cottonelle to inject personality in the bathroom. He has designed plastic toilet paper roll covers in his signature patterns.
The “Cottonelle Bathroom Essentials Package” will help one lucky reader spruce up their bathroom décor. Valued at over $150.00 this package includes:
· Jonathan Adler’s newest book: Jonathan Adler on Happy Chic Colors
· Jonathan Adler Cottonelle roll covers
· Cottonelle toilet paper
· Jonathan Adler soap pump
· Jonathan Adler lacquer tumbler
· Reversible bath towels
· Rain shower head

Recently I was invited to present a workshop at the Oakville May Court Table Tops Event. I created two table settings- one that cost over $2000 and one that was under $200. Can you guess which is which?
Special thanks to inVU Drapery Co and IKEA for kindly providing product.
